A Program for Manufacturers

Shale refers to the Marcellus, Utica and other unconventional natural gas deposit in this region and POWER is an acronym for Pennsylvania, Ohio, West Virginia Economic Renaissance. This program was created to ensure local businesses and residents can benefit from the new industrial ecosystem of clustered gas production, processing, transport, and downstream manufacturing. According to a 2017 study by the American Chemical Council, more than $200 billion is being invested in this sector. Appalachia in particular promises to emerge as a major hub for downstream manufacturing activity, supporting tens of thousands of jobs within the region.
