Ryan received a bachelor’s degree in business management from Fairmont State College. He also holds a Certified Business Advisor certification from the University of Toledo and is a Certified Trade and Export Counselor through the Small Business Administration.
Early career employment including 4 years teaching high school then working for a community bank, where he spent two years as an Assistant Branch Manager and five years as a Commercial Lender.
In 2008, he joined the Ohio State University South Centers as a Business Development Specialist for the Ohio Small Business Development Center. He assumed the role of District Director in September of that year where he was responsible for maintaining grant funding through the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Ohio Department of Services Agency. Grant responsibilities included providing business consulting and training to small businesses in 10 Southern Ohio counties, while meeting the requirements and expectations of the state SBDC. In 2014, the OSU South Centers SBDC team was chosen as the SBA’s regional (6 state) winner of the SBDC Service Excellence and Innovation Center Award. The OSU South Centers became the Southeast region host for the Ohio Manufacturing Extension Partnership in 2019. This program provides a wide variety of services to manufactures in 19 counties in Southeast Ohio. Ryan currently serves as the Program Leader for The OSU South Centers Business Development Network and manager of the OSU Endeavor Center, a 27,000 sq. ft. business incubator and training facility located in Piketon, Oh.
